OFFERS/QUOTES
Handmade Journeys does not book any services until the client confirms requirements. This means that Handmade Journeys cannot guarantee any availability on hotels or other services mentioned in a quoted offer to the client. All bookings are made on specific requests. Handmade Journeys advises the client to book services as early as possible.
RESERVATIONS AND BOOKINGS
The client will send all reservations details and confirmations to Handmade Journeys by email.
The client is required to send scanned copies of ID proof to process bookings.
ROOMS
Requests for room types will be honoured based on availability at the respective hotels. In some countries single rooms and twin rooms tend to be limited due to limited inventory in hotels.
Triple room accommodation is subject to availability at the time of booking. In many countries, particularly India, a triple room is generally a double or twin room in which the hotel will add a second or third bed (roll-out) or a sofa or a cot at the expense of comfort and space, especially for the third adult. Guests who have booked a triple room cannot claim discount or compensation if dissatisfied with the arrangements.
CHANGES
Handmade Journeys reserves the right to change hotels and programs, based on availability. Handmade Journeys shall ensure the service and category is of the same level as in the hotel or program quoted to the client and the client shall be notified in advance. The client is not entitled to any compensation in this respect.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
Handmade Journeys shall be exempt from liability for loss, injury or damage to property, personal accidents, delays, irregularities or any occurrences beyond our control. Every person participating in any trip organized by Handmade Journeys will do so at his own risk with respect to loss or injury to person or property.
Clients must note that there are certain hazards involved in adventure holidays, which they must accept at their own risk. Handmade Journeys will not be liable for any illness, injury or fatality that results from participation in any activities or treks during the holiday, nor will it be liable for any uninsured loss of property.
Handmade Journeys disclaims responsibility for any loss, damage, accidents, sickness or schedule changes caused by weather or road conditions, force majeure such as natural catastrophes, strikes or any other irregularities beyond the control of Handmade Journeys.
Handmade Journeys reserves the right to alter itineraries, routes or departure times without prior notice, should the necessity arise.
The client is responsible for the safety of his luggage throughout the tour.
VALIDITY OF PRICES
Any increase due to changes in government laws, i.e., tax changes, will be added to the invoice.
Any price increases on train, airline, boat tickets as well National Park fees, between the time of booking and the time payment is made will be passed on to the client.
All rates are based on exchange rates in effect on the date of the offer. In case of fluctuation in the currency rate, the impact would be fully passed on to the client.
INSURANCE
Please note that individual travel insurance is not included in the tour price, and the client pays all medical cost and other costs involved.
The client is still strongly recommended to purchase a comprehensive personal travel insurance policy for the duration of the trip to cover against Personal Accident, Loss of Baggage, Delays, Unexpected Alterations to Travel Arrangements, Cancellation, Act of God, Emergency Medical Evacuation, Infectious diseases, Epidemics, Terrorism, etc.
MODES OF PAYMENT
Handmade Journeys accepts payments through bank transfer or cheque.
PAYMENTS
Complete payment must be received no later than 45 days prior to date of departure. Should the payment not be received by the due date, we reserve the right to cancel all reservations. We will notify you in advance. All bookings will be subject to availability at the time of booking. Failure to receive payment on time may result in our inability to attain bookings because they are sold out. Handmade Journeys disclaims all responsibility if such a situation arises.
For bookings made within 60 days of travel, we require full payment for confirmation.
Depending on the type of tour booking, some of our overseas partners require full payment 90 days or more prior to departure date. We will notify you in advance.
When booking hotels and lodges, separate deposits and fees may apply according to the policy of the lodge. We will notify you in advance.
For confirmation of bookings that include flights/non-refundable services, Handmade Journeys requires complete payment to be made immediately upon receiving the invoice.
CANCELLATIONS
Handmade Journeys must be notified by email of all cancellations, early departure, changes or reduction in confirmed reservation.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellation intimation prior to departure
60 days or more - 15% of tour cost
59 to 45 days - 25% of tour cost
44 to 30 days - 50% of tour cost
29 to 15 days - 75% of tour cost
Less than 14 days or No Show - 100% of tour cost
Requests for amendments less than 30 days before the start of the trip must be in writing. We will try to accommodate all reasonable amendments and modifications to the agreed itinerary after payment is made and/or the trip has begun. All charges and additional fees corresponding to new services contracted will be passed on to you, and no refunds will be given for unused services and/or accommodation.
If you ask us to execute new arrangements or rearrangements ofactivities/hotels/guides/tours during the course of your trip, the client is required to pay an extra administrative fee of USD 50, plus any applicable vendor expenses.
Any major (change of route/destination) changes to the itinerary after full payment has been received may incur extra charges, and will depend on third party vendor policies.
If during the course of the trip the client decides for any reason to cancel the trip or decide a change of route, no refunds will be given for the unused services and/or accommodation.
FORCE MAJEURE
Force majeure refers to any unusual and unforeseeable circumstances beyond the control of Handmade Journeys, the consequences of which neither Handmade Journeys nor its suppliers could avoid, including, but not limited to war, threat of war, riot, civil strife, strikes, terrorist activity (actual or threatened), industrial dispute, technical problems with transport, machinery or equipment, power failure, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, flood, drought, adverse weather conditions and level of water in rivers.
If as a result of force majeure, Handmade Journeys is rendered unable to provide a portion of your holiday after it has commenced and alternative arrangements must be made, the passengers will have to bear the cost of those arrangements.
Under no circumstances will Handmade Journeys offer refunds for cancellations in the event of a force majeure.
REFUNDS
Handmade Journeys will make no refunds for cancellation after the tour has commenced or for any unused tour services including but not limited to transfer, meals and accommodation, sightseeing or any other services not utilized.
The client is also subject to the terms and conditions of all our partner travel vendors and third party service providers.
Flight tickets are 100% non-refundable, unless they are purchased in a premium category where cancellations are allowed, and are subject to airline terms and conditions.
SPECIAL REQUESTS
Handmade Journeys will try to fulfil special requests for meals, tours, accommodations, etc. However, such requests are strictly subject to confirmation and availability and third party terms and conditions.
LAND PRICE EXCLUSIONS
Items not included in the price are generally described in the itinerary and include without limitation: airfares and airport taxes of any nature, both domestic and international; excess baggage charges as imposed by airlines; forwarding or courier of baggage and purchases; passport and visa cost; camera charges; emergency evacuation charges, medical charges for inoculations; room service; all items of personal nature such as medicine, laundry, postage, beverages, photography charges and other personal effects and belongings like clothing, camera; meals, alcoholic drinks and soft beverages not mentioned in the inclusions section of the itinerary; telephone/cable/fax/internet charges; baggage, trip cancellation and personal insurance; souvenirs and gratuities to or tips for tour guides, tour leaders, drivers, hotel porters, etc.
TRANSFERS
For airport and rail transfers, please provide the arrival/departure flight / train details at the time of reservation. Transfer arrangements will not be provided for bookings with missing or inaccurate arrival/departure information and there will be no refund for unused services. Our driver or a local representative will greet and meet you at the Airport Arrivals Hall (unless otherwise specified) with a placard bearing your name. Should you be unable to locate our representative or the appointed meeting place, please call the relevant telephone number stated on the itinerary before making alternative arrangements.
When travelling in Asia, particularly India, clients are advised to leave well before time for scheduled flights and train departures, keeping a buffer time as factors like traffic may cause delays. Handmade Journeys will not be responsible for missed flights / train connections.
For all land transfers, our local ground operator will make arrangements in advance. Should you need to change the pickup time, please ensure Handmade Journeys is informed at least 48 hours prior to your departure. The change request is subject to availability and third party vendor policy.
SIGHTSEEING TOURS
Unless otherwise specified, shared group tours are conducted in English and provided in an air-conditioned tourist coach, minibus or van depending on group size.
Foreign language speaking guides are available on request.
Handmade Journeys shall not be responsible or liable for articles left behind in the vehicles or otherwise misplaced.
Pickup times from hotels are approximate and may be subject to traffic conditions. Should the transport be delayed, please call the relevant telephone number as stated on the voucher/itinerary before making alternative arrangements.
TRAVEL DOCUMENTS, VACCINATION CERTIFICATES, PERMITS & VISA
All passports and visas must be valid for at least six (6) months from the date of entry into the country of destination. It is the client’s sole responsibility to ensure they are carrying proper and complete travel documents required for their trip.
Handmade Journeys will not be liable for any expenses, reimbursements or refund of any trip fare in the event that the guest is refused entry by immigration authorities into the country of destination for any reason whatsoever.
In order to obtain the permits to visit various sites, your complete, correct personal information (name, passport number and date of birth) must be provided. Failure to provide these on time may result in our inability to attain permits because they are sold out.
Handmade Journeys is not liable for any visas not issued to clients.
FLIGHT TICKETS AND VISAS
Handmade Journeys outsources flight bookings and visas.
We have no responsibility for any visas not issued on time, delays or cancelled flights and are not liable to pay any compensation for missed tours or flights. It is the client’s responsibility to check visas and tickets for spelling errors in the name or wrongly booked dates. The client’s name and details must be completely accurate and match the information on the passport.
CONFIDENTIALITY
Handmade Journeys will safeguard, according to strict standards of security and confidentiality, any information of the client. The company will limit collection and use of the client’s personal particulars/information to the minimum and for the sole purpose of completing the transaction as well as facilitating the smooth delivery of services.
GUEST COMMENTS
Any comments regarding complaint/claims should be lodged in writing with supporting documentation to Handmade Journeys within seven days from date of return.
If the client is unhappy with the services rendered during the course of the trip, they are required to notify Handmade Journeys immediately so that we may assist them to resolve the issue.
